Comment Avatars Working

This site uses software called PostNuke to handle all the content and one thing that has always bugged me is that it allows users to set an avatar, but doesn’t use the avatars anywhere on the site. From now on, if you’re logged in and you post a comment the avatar will be shown next to your name. To set your avatar, login and head here.

nowayscoob back online

I almost gave up on nowayscoob’s website, which laid unloved for a few months while Justin frollicked around irresponsibly. It’s certainly not Kopie’s fault their website went updateless since January, because he had other duties. At least their reputation is somewhat redeemed by a long update and some good advice about attending Trocadero events:

I figured it was time to update the website. I think two months is a long enough lull. Not that there’s anything to write about, but I just don’t wanna give you all the impression that I’m lazy. Although, I am.

Word to the wise: when seeing a concert at the Troc, avoid upstairs viewing AT ALL COSTS. We went upstairs, figuring ‘Hey, beer, seats, perfect view, no annoying kids…perfect!’ No Knife came out and they’re not sounding so hot…. oh well, deal with it. Then Cursive comes out and they sound like shit too! So we go downstairs and they’re fucking awesome! Upstairs at the Troc sucks! We could’ve been downstairs rockin out to No Knife, but instead we were up there, thinkin they were shit.

Upstairs asscoustics can also be found at the Mann Music Center. Read the rest of Justin’s update at nowayscoob.com.

Reju @ 3 Beans Last Night

So Adrien Reju’s band is now just called Reju. That’s a good move on Adrien’s part, because she’s bounced around a number of backing muscians since I’ve known her and these guys are clearly what she’s been looking for. They sound great together.

She even rocked out with her Paul Reed Smith for a while and I didn’t hear a single complaint. My favorite song of hers is still “Kaleidoscope,” and it better be on the new album.

Photos from this Weekend

I added some new pictures from Friday’s show to my image gallery. I also added a few pics of other local artists, including Jason Wheatley, Matt Winn, and Reju. Be sure to check out this really weird picture of Matt Winn and Jason Wheatley. The slow shutterspeed created some interesting lighting effects, especially on the soundboard LEDs.

Speaking of weird pictures, I have no idea what’s going on here.

I just found out the times for each news posting are all messed up if you’re an anonymous user. My server is in California, so I have to set the local time to PST. If you want to see the correct times for your location you need to register and set your time zone accordingly.

Thanks for Coming Out!!

I had a lot of fun at last night’s show. Jason rocks for having me open up for him and so does everyone for coming out (Sarah, Jeanne, Mark, Rich, Vinnie, Kevin, Joanne, and Adam). I’ll post some pictures of the show later on when I get a chance. I did a set of almost all originals:

“The Genius of it All”
“16-18”
“I Hope I Die on the Moon”
“Why Now Satan?” (My wrist barely made it through this one)
“All My Dreams are in Cartoon “
“Thesis”
“Headstart”
Gomez’s “Get Miles”
The Pixies’ “Mr Grieves”

I was going to do another short set during Jason’s break, but I unreluctantly gave it up to alien guitar player, Matt Winn. I saw Matt play a lot last summer and the guy has grown into a kick ass performer. He gave me a copy of his CD, so I’ll have to let you know how it is.

Jason played great as always. He has an ability to talk to an audience that I’ll never be able to compete with. He has some more gigs coming up thanks to his girlfriend/booking agent, so check him out if you can.

Reminder of Friday’s Show

Be sure to come out on Friday to see Jason Wheatley and me at the Living Room at 8:00PM. Don’t worry, Jason’s not nearly as scary as I am.

Also, you’ll definitely want to check out Adrien Reju on Saturday March 29 @ 8:30PM at 3 Beans Coffee in Haddonfield, NJ.

I saw a great commercial the other day thanking people like Kato Kalin, Joey Butafucco, and Tonya Harding and then at the end it turns out to be an ad for Trivial Pursuit. I really need to update my version of the game, otherwise I’ll have to brush up on my Mr. T Cereal trivia (be careful of the invasive audio ads).

Movie Radar Alert: shitty movie spotted at 10:00

Chappelle

I just bought tickets to go see Dave Chappelle on April 11 at the Tower Theatre. I can’t wait. He was fantastic when I saw him a few years ago at AU (hmmm that may be the first link I’ve ever made to my alma mater).

Attention logged in users – You must check out my new Super News Feed when you get a chance. As before it updates itself every hour, but now you can filter out any sites you don’t want to see and you can even add your own favorite news feed. The downside is that you have to be logged in to get any real use out of it. Enjoy!

Even More New Images

Ye Intruders Beware!I’ve been camera crazy lately and posted a few new pictures from Sunday’s hike through Wissahickon Park including the creepy Kelpius Cave picture you see to the right. I was actually brave enough to step inside the thing this time, but still haven’t executed my plan of jumping out of it wearing a wolfman mask.

I caught Vicious Circle’s show at Baron’s Steakhouse on Friday night and they’re still the heaviest band on the planet. I haven’t been to a heavy show in forever and it was a cool time despite a few derelicts picking fights. Supposedly I got out of there before the real trouble started.

Fights will be kept to a minimum at Jason’s show this Friday where I’ll be opening up for him. heh

Upcoming Gig at the Living Room Friday, 3/28

I’m proud to announce I’ll be opening up for Jason Wheatley at the Living Room in Collingswood, NJ on Friday, March 28th at 8:00PM. Jason has a great sound has been mentioned here numerous times. It should be a great show. If you need alcohol to have fun Jason is also playing TONIGHT at the Grape Street Pub at 8:00PM.

I went running for this first time this year the other day. My legs feel like the bones are missing, but it’s all worth it right?
