Clap Your Hands Say Yeah @ The First Unitarian Sweat Lodge
I just got back from seeing Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Grand Buffet, and Magnolia Electric Co. (songs: ohia) at the First Unitarian Church. The early crowd was there and ready for CYHSY who opened with Let the Cool Goddess Rust Away. Highlights for me include the Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth and the…

Greatest TV Shows Ever?
In my last post I ranked The Office as the greatest TV show ever. It got me thinking about what the best shows were. Here’s a stab at answering the question. 10. The Daily Show 9. Carnivale 8. Kids in the Hall 7. Survivor 6. The Sopranos 5. Six Feet Under 4. Twin Peaks 3.…

Saturday’s Show
Last Saturday’s show with John went well. I broke a string while playing “Freelove Freeway” from the Office (Rickey Gervais’s version here, although it’s not really funny unless you’ve seen the show (It’s the greatest TV show ever, by the way)). The most remarkable thing about the show was the heat. I sweated like crazy…

One Year Anniversary
Jeanne and I celebrated our one year anniversary last weekend and decided to go all out and get terrible sunburns down in Cape May. Seriously, if you ever want to stay down there for the weekend, The Brass Bed In was very nice, reasonably priced, and the owners couldn’t have been friendlier.

marsRED last Thursday
I played a short set at marsRED last Thursday for a little shindig they had going on over there, so I’d like to give a shout out to all the people I met that night and thanks for not booing me off the stage/window sill! Kyle Justin played, too, and he sounded good. Check him…

Randomness: Adrien, Gigs, and Movies
Sometimes I like to run through a whole bunch of topics at once. Adrien’s gig last night, upstairs at World Cafe Live’s “Bard Sessions,” was fun. I only recognized two of the songs she played, so she must have been writing a lot since the last time I saw her. This was my first trip…

Google Maps Lays Street Names on Satelite Photos
I didn’t think Google Maps could get any better, but now they’ve laid street names over top of the satelite photos. You can find this if you choose “hybrid” in the top right of an address. Check it out.

Show Recap @ The Eleven East Cafe
The show last Friday went ok. I played a longer set than I planned while waiting for the Stand In to get there. They showed up and played about 5 songs and were pretty good, although their sound was clearly too big for the room. He was nice enough to thank us for not going…

Who is the Smartest Person That Ever Lived?
Who is the smartest person who ever lived? It’s an interesting question and I have no criteria for how to pick the #1, but these 5 should definitely be in the top 10. Sir Issac Newton – Invented Calculus and showed us how ordered the universe was. Albert Einstein – Changed the way we perceive…

Gig @ The Eleven East Cafe this Friday
I just got added to the lineup for this Friday at The Eleven East Cafe in Glassboro, NJ w/ Kilpatrick and the Stand In. I’m opening up the show in their “Remix Room” where I’ll be playing a 30 minute set of mostly originals. Check out EEC’s Virtual Tour. It’s Wizardry-esque and I half expected…

Live 8
You may have heard about a concert here last week called Live 8 to indirectly benefit starving Africans and directly benefit sellers of cheese fries. We got there as the Black Eyed Peas were playing and actually got a decent spot near the stage. I couldn’t actually see the performers, but I think my taller…

Get In Front of me Jesus
I’ve been trying to write a review of the new White Stripes album for a month and I’m about to give up. I still can’t tell if I like it and I’m willing to bet that if it’s taking me this long, I don’t.
