Haagen Australian Lager
One of my Christmas gifts this year was an eight pack of Beers of the World. I figured I’d write a short review of each beer as I finish it off. The first on the list is Haagen Australian Lager. Info: Brewed by Independant Brewers Australia in Laverton, Victoria, Australia. 5.0% Alcohol Color: Light gold,…

Basketball + Trampoline + 3 Dumb Kids
I think ET said it best when he said, “Ouuuuuuuuch.” This is why insurance companies drop you if you own a trampoline.

Verizon FIOS Installed
Yesterday I had Verizon FIOS installed. Check out the speed results so far. It’s advertised as 20Mbps download and 5Mbps upload, so it’s pretty close according to the Speakeasy Speed Test. Actual download speeds have varied for me. It seems most servers cap users at 400 KB/ps. This morning I tried downloading the Microsoft DirectX…

SNL Song
I don’t think SNL will be able to top this for a while. Everyone’s linking to it, but it’s worth it. NBC even posted the uncensored version on YouTube.

Survivor: Cook Islands
Last night was the final episode of Survivor: Cook Islands, the much talked about “race tribes” season. Predictably, they integrated the tribes early on, so race quickly became a non-issue in the show. We saw a few twists, a great comeback, and two opposing victory strategies. Who won and why did they win? Read on.

Ton of New Registered Users
I’m not sure why, but a ton of new people registered on the site this weekend. I figured it was probably a spambot, but the addresses and usernames look real. If anyone registered in the last two days, send me an email and let me know.

Google Patent Search
You’ve always been able to search through patents on the US Patent website, but as usual, Google does it 100 times better. They even feature notable or hilarious patents on the main page. So far my favorite patents: Monkey Doll Underwear Nose Hair Trimmer I also had a good time looking up all the patents…

Iverson Leaving Philly
So I guess Iverson is leaving Philadelphia and even though it’s not finalized it looks like a done deal. It’s a shame, because the guy played every game with everything he had. Even if he wasn’t always at practice.

Beer Brewing
Brewmaster Neil Innes and I are making a batch of IPA in my basement. We started fermenting it last week and this week we moved it into the carboy. It should be ready some time in the next few weeks. Check it out: The recipe kit we used was Munton’s Gold IPA I never really…

More on New CYHSY Album
The album is called Some Loud Thunder, which is also the name of a song they played all over their tour last year. I have a live recording of it, but I can’t find the link online anymore. Of the two new songs, Long Song No. 7 is definitely the tougher one to get into.…

Went to the game last night
Jake and I went to the Eagles Panthers game last night and what an event it was. Rocky was in attendance and thankfully, so were the Philadelphia Eagles. The whole team played a stellar game with the exception of the defensive line which has been outplayed since Kearse left for the season. Amazingly if the…

Westmont Car Wash
I like to give free plugs to local businesses when they deserve it. I brought Jeanne’s car to the Westmont Car Wash on MacArthur Blvd (just off Cuthbert) and couldn’t believe how great the deal was. For $9.58 (including tax, but not tip) you get the full service car wash which includes a trip through…

Battlestar Galactica
When I was a kid I loved the show Battlestar Galactica, so I’ve been rewatching it on DVD. The show holds up pretty well, although some of the plots are really thin and the lead, Apollo played by Richard Hatch, makes me wonder who the heck cast him. Dirk Benedict (Face from the A-Team) as…

A Dad for a Week
So far being a Dad is great and Sasha is now a week old. Every day after work I can’t wait to come home and see her. Look how big she’s getting already! Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Bank of America and MBNA: First comes marriage, then comes unintentional hilarity
Bank of America and MBNA merged, so their executives threw together a meeting to pump up their employees, which included this Office-esque version of U2’s One. If you can sit through the whole thing I’ll give you credit. More about this story here. First seen on boingboing.
