Last week I went to the first ever Bamboo Bernies open mic hosted by Justin Taylor. Some people probably thought I was mad last week because I only played three songs and got the heck out of there, but I wasn’t. I just didn’t want to stay out that late and I ended up going on around midnight. I’m not mad at Justin or Keith at all. Trust me, I know juggling the performers at an open mic can be hectic. Not everyone gets their ideal spot and that’s fine.
The sound was better than when I played a paid gig there last year, but that could have been because of the siginifcantly lower crowd noise. hah. Still, Justin had a decent turnout. The regulars from the Crab came out, but it just seems like fewer people since Bamboo Bernies is much bigger. I played “99%,” “I Hope I Die on the Moon,” and “All My Dreams are in Cartoon.” It was great to hear nowayscoob do a bunch of songs since Kopie was home.
Justin and Keith (not Keith Lewis, a different Keith) run that open mic every Wednesday night at 9:30PM, so check it out.

Bring back the Tree House Open Mic!

Talk to Tina!
I heard rumors a while ago that Johnny Miles might be starting it up and having it run from 8-10 or 7-9. I think a 2 hour open mic would be great.
That rumor has been circulating for a while. I just sent an email to JM to confirm/deny.
Midnight slots at BBernies just ain’t gonna happen for me,
But I’ve got a new guitar to play and some new songs, and they don’t quite fit the Christian Open Mic…though I would reccommend the T.H.’s Sundays and Thursday C.O.M.N. to all open-minded music lovers, too, if just for the experience. And to anyone who likes LOUD jungle drums with their Jesus music
