I guess I couldn’t get enough local music last Wednesday, because after the Treehouse open mic I went over to Justin’s open mic at Bamboo Bernies. His photolog provides evidence that it’s not usually as dead as it was that night. I played 5 or 6 songs but broke a string during Built to Spill’s “Big Dipper.” The crowd seemed to be somewhat into the new songs I’m working on, so that was cool. I only caught sets by Justin and Keith, because I didn’t stick around for too long.
What was up with the bamboo bernies staff? There were two bartenders and they could both bring you drinks, but only one could take your money. I guess they didn’t trust the other one.
And seriously, $5 for a fishbowl? There’s so much alcohol in those I might as well pay them $5 to beat me up and throw me in a Lawnside ditch or in a dumpster behind the Pathmark. In other words, they’re not safe for weekday consumption and I stay away from them.
Update: I forgot to mention this. I accidently told the crowd that my name was bengarvey.com. I’m such a loser.
