Running a 5K Tomorrow

Tomorrow I’m running in the Pine Hill 5K. I used to run in high school, but I was never any good. My goal is just to finish the thing and beat most of the old people. A lot of my friends are/were decent runners and I bet my friend Mike $50 that he couldn’t run it in under 23 minutes. At the time of the bet I was sure he couldn’t do it, but that was 3 weeks ago and he’s been out running every single day since then.

I’ve been out running five six times since the bet started and definitely noticed improvement. I’m sure the coming cold weather will kill off my running habit soon, but hopefully I can restart it in the Spring.

Update: I lost the bet. Mike finished the race in about 22:30, but he vowed not to run his mouth off again. My time sucked, but I ran the whole way and finished in about 27:17 27:27.

Update #2: Check out the official race results. Yeah, I got whooped on by a 10 year old. I’ll get you next time Derek Henry.

Good luck. 23 minutes is pretty fast if you don’t run regularly. I’ve run a few 5Ks and I just got my time under 25.

  2. I felt pretty weak, but I finished at a better pace than I’ve been practicing at.
