Round 2 of Shoot the Moon just ended with two shooting deaths and two autokills, bringing the number of players left to 14. Congratulations to Mr Purple for his dramatic demise. He was shot four times this round.

Mr Purple was killed. Mr Crimson said, “Ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?” and then shot Mr Purple in the taint.
Mr Emerald showed him how to put up drywall and then shot Mr Purple in the ass.
Mr Maroon brought over a bottle of whiskey. He offered him a shot and then shot Mr Purple in the shoulder.
Mr Pink forgot the safety was off and then shot Mr Purple in the pectorals.
Mr Lime was shot at by Mr Azure, but he survived.
Mr Crimson was killed. Mr Chartreuse threw him down the well so his country could be free and then shot Mr Crimson in the pectorals.
Mr Purple asked for forgiveness and then shot Mr Crimson in the spine.
Mr Blue was shot at by Mr Lime and Mr Teal and Mr Blue, but he survived.
Mr Azure was shot at by Mr Gold, but he survived.
Mr White was shot at by Mr Brown, but he survived.
Mr Chartreuse was shot at by Mr White and Mr Yellow and Mr Black, but he survived.
Mr Pink was shot at by Mr Green, but he survived.
AUTOKILL: Mr Magenta stuck his head in the oven..
AUTOKILL: Mr Olive was hit by a Car. Not Ric Okasik, it was one of the other guys.

Ok, now that the game is pretty stable I might want to tweak the rules again. I need feedback from people who have played. I want to strike a balance between rewarding alliances and rewarding backstabbers. The fun of the game is outsmarting people, but it still feels a little too random. A game where you have little control over whether you live or die won’t keep it’s appeal very long.

I’ve been toying with two ideas.

1. Allowing players to send a message to multiple players at a time. This would encourage alliance building and communication because you could verify that Player X is saying the same thing to you as he is to somebody else.

2. Instead of lowering the point value for having more players in on a kill, increase it. So if two players shot someone they’d get 2 points each instead of 0.5 points each. If 4 players shoot someone they’d get 4 points each instead of 0.25. This would really reward alliances. It would probably also make games a lot longer since less people would die per round.

3. Changing the decision rule for when two players are left. Instead of a comparison of their points, have it so a higher score will just make it more likely that they will win. For instance, if Mr Blue has 10 points and Mr Green has 5 points, Mr Blue would have a 2/3 chance of winning and Mr Green would have a 1/3 chance of winning.

I’ve always said this was about how long I wanted to live.

Round 1 of Shoot the Moon finished last night and 8 players bit the dust. Once again I was pleasantly surprised that only 1 out of 25 people forgot to make their move. I made it through the first round, despite the fact that I accidently revealed my identity in the game again. Why do I suck so bad at my own game? I’ll probably be dead next round for sure. Here are the results.

Mr Indigo was killed. Mr Crimson punched him in the stomach and then shot Mr Indigo in the back.
Mr Salmon brought over a bottle of whiskey. He offered him a shot and then shot Mr Indigo in the wrist.
Mr Chartreuse was shot at by Mr Emerald, but he survived.
Mr Red was killed. Mr Azure read his diary and then shot Mr Red in the keester.
Mr Blue wished for peace on Earth, starting tomorrow and then shot Mr Red in the liver.
Mr Teal was shot at by Mr Maroon and Mr Gray and Mr Pink, but he survived.
Mr Orange was killed. Mr Chartreuse wore a fake mustache and then shot Mr Orange in the boob.
Mr Lime came over to watch a football game. They split a pizza and then shot Mr Orange in the groin.
Mr Salmon was killed. Mr Magenta posed as a circus clown and then shot Mr Salmon in the back of the knee.
Mr Purple wrapped his sleeve around his neck and then shot Mr Salmon in the ribs.
Mr Olive was shot at by Mr Orange, but he survived.
Mr Azure was shot at by Mr Gold, but he survived.
Mr Crimson was shot at by Mr Indigo, but he survived.
Mr Magenta was shot at by Mr Bistre and Mr Teal and Mr Green, but he survived.
Mr Gray was killed. Mr Olive said, “Oma Kora su baka na gaijin!” and then shot Mr Gray in the cranium.
Mr Black forgot the safety was off and then shot Mr Gray in the foot.
Mr Bistre was killed. Mr Brown sought shelter from tornado and then shot Mr Bistre in the ribs.
Mr Yellow hid all day inside a doghouse and then shot Mr Bistre in the shin.
Mr Emerald was shot at by Mr White, but he survived.
AUTOKILL: Mr Cyan found Jesus. Also, found Bear.
