Jeopardy Three Way Tie

I’m a big Jeopardy fan and I can’t believe they had a three way tie on Friday (I just watched the episode). I don’t understand why the champion didn’t bet one dollar more to make sure his winnings would cover the other guys’ maximum bets.

When a tie occurs on Jeopardy, the players return back the next day. It’s happened for two players a bunch of times, but never all three players. I wonder if they get to keep the money they earned that show or do they now have to win on Monday to keep it.

Also, in looking up a news article about the tie, I found this site made by an ultra obsessive fan. It lists every question from every show!

  1. That’s crazy! And you’re right the champion should have bet one more dollar.

  2. I am amazed (but I guess I shouldn’t be) at the obsession it takes to maintain that site. It shows how much I don’t know though.

  3. I watched yesterday’s episode and Alex Trebek said during the commercial break before Final Jeopardy, a kid in the audience asked if there had ever been a three way tie. Alex said no and the champion overhead that and intentionally forced a three way tie.

  4. I could never handle Jeopardy. I’m pretty good at answering the questions, but I never phrase the answer in the form of a question. I just blurt it out.

  5. Ben: “I watched yesterday’s episode and Alex Trebek said during the commercial break before Final Jeopardy, a kid in the audience asked if there had ever been a three way tie. Alex said no and the champion overhead that and intentionally forced a three way tie.”

Ah, well that makes sense, if you’re into the whole making history thing.
