Battlestar Galactica

When I was a kid I loved the show Battlestar Galactica, so I’ve been rewatching it on DVD. The show holds up pretty well, although some of the plots are really thin and the lead, Apollo played by Richard Hatch, makes me wonder who the heck cast him. Dirk Benedict (Face from the A-Team) as Lieutenant Starbuck is great as well as Lorne Greene as Commander Adama.

My favorite character by far is Lucifer the Cylon, who is the second in command of the ship in pursuit of Battlestar Galactica. His tiny head is made up of a piece of flashing rope lighting and I crack up every time he’s on screen.

Has anyone seen the remake? Is it any good?

  1. The new version is really good, but in different ways. It’s the same premise (machines trying to wipe out the human race), but how things got where they are, and what’s going on is different. It’s also a lot darker and more serious that the old one. It’s definitely watching the first couple seasons on DVD and HDNet to get caught up.
